Organization of Fish and Wildlife Information Managers Student Scholarship Award - Deadline: August 8, 2008


Purpose: The Organization of Fish and Wildlife Information Managers (OFWIM) Student Scholarship recognizes academic and professional excellence among students enrolled full-time in fisheries and wildlife-related curricula at an accredited college or university, with research or studies emphasizing wildlife information management and/or geographic information systems (GIS).  The scholarship award supports student attendance at the OFWIM Conference and Annual meeting.  To learn more about OFWIM, visit the web site (http://www.ofwim.org).

PhD Assistantship in social networks, working landscapes, and water quality

We seek a motivated PhD student to investigate the social networks present in working landscapes to understand their role in the provision of ecosystem services-specifically water quality-and their relationship to ecological systems. The context for our project will be working agricultural and forested landscapes that are primarily in small landholdings.

Applications are due 16 June 2008. The position begins either this Fall (preferred) or in Spring 2009 and is funded for 3 years. Support includes an assistantship, tuition remission, and health benefits. 

Two Research Assistant Positions with the Koprowski Group

The Mount Graham red squirrel monitoring project seeks two research assistants to participate in population and behavioral studies on the endangered Mt. Graham red squirrel in the Pinaleño mountains in southeastern Arizona with the research group of John L. Koprowski (www.ag.arizona.edu/~squirrel). This isolated population of squirrels has been monitored since 1989 and we are currently conducting intensive telemetric studies to learn more
