Marshall Foundation Dissertation Fellowship
The Graduate College is pleased to announce the Marshall Foundation Dissertation Fellowships designed to help Arizona graduate students complete their doctoral dissertation.
Award: $10,788.00 provided by the Marshall Foundation (paid Spring 2009) and a Graduate
Registration Scholarship (in-state waiver of tuition for 2 semesters if needed, Spring 2009, Fall 2009) provided by the Graduate College. (Miscellaneous fees and health insurance not covered)
Eligibility:
University of Arizona doctoral candidates whose dissertation proposal has been approved by their doctoral committee, have filed the Advancement to Candidacy Form with the Graduate College, and expect to complete and defend their doctoral dissertation within the one-year period of the award.
U.S. Citizenship
Legal residency in the State of Arizona, (must have filed and have been granted residency though ABOR Residency Classification Office located at the UA in Modern Languages Room 347)
Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above
Demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA or by the student's own statement of financial support needed to carry out the dissertation.
Fellows must be enrolled for a minimum of 3 dissertation units of 900 level classes to receive stipend.
Fellows must agree to make available an electronic copy of their dissertation to be housed at the Marshall Foundation Library.

A statement of interest stating the importance of your research to the state, the nation and the world (2 page maximum).
A copy of your dissertation prospectus approved by your committee.
A detailed timetable identifying dates by when you plan to finish your data collection, data analysis and a draft of each chapter, as well as the expected date of the Oral Defense.
A letter from your Dissertation Committee Chair verifying that you will complete and defend your dissertation within one year from the date of the award.
A copy of this year's FAFSA determination and/or your own statement of financial need.
