Marshall Foundation Dissertation Fellowship

The Graduate College is pleased to announce the Marshall Foundation
Dissertation Fellowship designed to help Arizona graduate students complete
their doctoral dissertation.

Award:   $10,788.00 provided by the Marshall Foundation (paid Spring 2010)
and a Graduate Registration Scholarship (in-state waiver of tuition for 2
semesters Spring and Fall 2010, if needed) provided by the Graduate College.
(Miscellaneous fees and health insurance are not covered)
Eligibility:
*       University of Arizona doctoral candidates whose dissertation
proposal has been approved by their doctoral committee, have filed the
"Committee Appointment Form" with the Graduate College Degree Certification
Office, and expect to complete and defend their doctoral dissertation within
the one-year period of the award.
*       U.S. Citizenship
*       Legal residency in the State of Arizona, (must have filed and have
been granted residency by the ABOR Residency Classification Office located
at the UA in Modern Languages Room  347)
*       Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above
*       Demonstrated financial need as determined by the Free Application
for Student Aid (FAFSA) or by the student's own statement of financial
support needed to complete the dissertation.
*       Enrollment in a minimum of 3 dissertation units (900-level) to
receive stipend.
*       Agreement to make available an electronic copy of their dissertation
to the Marshall Foundation for storing in its Library.

Application Procedure:

Submit the following documents to the Marshall Foundation Dissertation
Fellowship Committee via electronic submission as One PDF to
cbjerk@grad.arizona.edu.  Any applications not in this requested format will
not be considered.

*       The Marshall Foundation Dissertation Fellowship Application Form

*        statement of interest stating the importance of your research to
the state, the nation and the world (2 page maximum).
*       A copy of your dissertation proposal approved by your committee.
*       A detailed timetable identifying dates by when you plan to finish
your data collection, data analysis and a draft of each chapter, as well as
the expected date of the Oral Defense.
*       A letter from your Dissertation Committee Chair verifying that you
will complete and defend your dissertation within one year from the date of
the award.
*       A copy of this year's FAFSA determination and/or your own statement
of financial need.
